Market and inventory

Currency, time zone, taxes and how stock is split across channels.

Your organization is your business inside Koalab: one currency and a single inventory shared out across your channels. It's in the side menu → “Organization”, in two tabs: “Market” for currency, time zone and taxes (nothing to do with Mercado Libre) and “Inventory” for how stock is split. The currency is chosen at the start, on the welcome screen.

  1. Currency, time zone and taxes

In “Market”, the “Currency” is your shared catalog's: the products Koalab keeps once and publishes on all your channels except independent ones. With no channels, you change it whenever you like. If your channels already state one, the list stays locked on it and below it says which ones set it. Changing the currency doesn't convert prices: 50,000 COP become 50,000 USD. “Time zone” sets the time of your scheduled uploads, the email summaries and the dashboard's “today”; on automatic it follows your channels. “Tax treatment” and “Rate (%)” are for reference only: Koalab neither adds nor removes taxes, so type your prices the way you want them shown. “Content language” is the one for titles and descriptions, not the screen's.

  2. Splitting stock

In “Inventory”, at the top is “Who owns the catalog”, with each channel's role; it has its own tutorial. Below, “How inventory is split” decides how much stock each channel that receives from Koalab sees. The leading channel publishes all the stock and independent ones carry their own. “Full”: every channel publishes everything; if two sell the same unit before Koalab passes the sale on, in about a minute, you oversell. “Split evenly”: stock is divided among those channels, paused ones included, and whatever doesn't divide evenly isn't published (with 10 units and 3 channels, each shows 3). “Capped”: each channel publishes at most the amount you set.

  3. The per-channel cap

With “Capped”, “Maximum per channel” appears. It starts at 1: change it before saving, or each channel will show a single unit of each product. It's for not offering more on a marketplace than you want to sell there.

  4. The safety buffer

The “Safety buffer” is units taken off each channel that receives from Koalab, after the split, so the last ones aren't offered on several at once. It's taken off each channel: with 42 units, “Split evenly”, 3 channels and a buffer of 2, each one shows 12. The leading channel carries no buffer, and none goes below 0.

  5. The preview

With a sample product of 42 units, the screen shows how much each of your channels would see with these settings, before you save. Independent channels show as “separate”.

Details worth knowing

  • Each tab has its own “Save changes”. The one in “Inventory” saves the split and also any roles you change above; handing the lead to a channel or taking it out of the shared catalog asks you to confirm first. Only an admin or the owner can save these tabs.
  • Currency, tax, time zone and split apply to the whole organization: they aren't changed channel by channel. An independent channel can work in another currency. What a channel can have differently is its price rules and its alerts.
