Publishing a product on your channels

The coverage matrix, the pre-flight validation and the per-channel statuses.

Publishing is putting a product from your catalog on a channel where it is not yet. The coverage view shows the map: what is on each channel, what is missing and what the channel rejected.

  1. Read the Coverage view

It opens with «Catalog coverage», above the list in table view, or from Home: «See the N missing listings» next to Channels, or a channel's «Gaps» number, which opens only that channel's. If nothing is missing, it says «Nothing left to publish». At the top, one card per channel with how many products it is missing. Below, one product per row and one channel per column: ✓ up to date; ↑ pending (linked to the channel, no confirmed send yet); ⋯ under review on the channel; ! with an error, and dotted outline with + not published. Independent channels do not appear: they carry their own catalog, with a single channel.

  2. See what would happen before publishing

On a channel's card, «Publish the N» first opens a dry run: it checks everything with the same checks as the real publication, without publishing anything. It splits the products into three numbers —those that pass, those Koalab fixes on its own and those that need you— and lists each problem with its reason and a link to the screen that fixes it. «How prices go out on …» shows each product's price in Koalab and on the channel, with its rules applied (markup, rounding), and its cost; those that would go out below cost come first. In Mercado Libre it also asks for the «Listing type» of products that do not have one: Clásica charges less commission and offers no interest-free installments; Premium offers them and charges more. Your choice is saved on the channel for the next listings.

  3. Publish a product

On the product page, «Publish» tab, each channel has its row. On the ones that ask for nothing extra, «Publish here» saves your changes, runs the same dry run as «Publish the N» and asks you to confirm: with «On sale», your customers see it right away. If the channel would reject it, the button stays off until you fix what it says. In Mercado Libre the category comes from General; if you did not choose one, from an earlier listing, from «Categories» or from the type, and the form says where it came from. The attributes come from the «Attributes» tab, and the «Listing type» from the product, the listing or the channel. Only «Validate» and «Publish» are left. So that Mercado Libre does not open quality goals on it (improvements it asks for, such as more photos), the form marks the main characteristics as «Recommended» and warns if it would carry fewer than 3 photos. Those goals do not stop you from publishing.

  4. Check the result per channel

The «Status on each channel» panel, next to the page, changes status. If the channel rejected the product, the reason stays there, under «Why it fails here and not on your channel», with «Try again», and also at the top of the page. In Mercado Libre it also says whether the listing is «Processing» (checking photos, it sorts itself out), «Paused» or «Under review», its score («44/100 · Standard») and each pending goal with where to fix it in Koalab. If the listing already exists, the form updates it: fill in what is missing and click «Update on Mercado Libre», which validates first. A field marked as coming from the «Attributes» tab is the product's: changing it here changes it on your other channels too.

  5. Publish everything a channel is missing

The dry run ends with «Publish N» —on Mercado Libre, each product with its own type and the rest with the chosen one—. It goes one after another, because channels throttle mass sends: with hundreds of products it takes minutes. With «Keep going in the background» you close the window and the batch goes on; rejections stay in the bell. A product that fails does not stop the batch. At the end it gives you three numbers: published, rejected by the channel and the ones that could not be tried. A rejection is fixed on the product; what could not be tried just needs another try. «See the rejected ones» opens that channel's list with each reason. They are published in batches of 500, and if more are left, it tells you. Rejections also reach you by email, according to your «Listings a channel rejected» row in «Your profile» → «Notifications».

  6. Fill in Mercado Libre's attributes in bulk

If Mercado Libre's dry run says a required attribute is missing —«Brand», «Model», «Universal product code» or each category's own, such as «Strap brand»—, «Fill in bulk» opens «Fill in attributes for Mercado Libre»: one row per category and attribute, with how many products it holds back. You set one value for all or go product by product. If Koalab finds the data in your catalog (the brand, the barcode, the name as model), it comes already written for you to check. «Generic brand» and «These products have no universal product code» only count if you tick them. The brand, the barcode and the attributes your catalog knows stay on the product, for all your channels; the rest, only for Mercado Libre. If you get it wrong, undo it in «Revert a batch». If the category asks for a size chart, create it on Mercado Libre and type its number here.

Details worth knowing

  • Mercado Libre requires a category and attributes according to its tree; the validation asks you for whatever is missing before it tries.
  • Publishing does not touch your other channels: it is a decision per destination. Stock, on the other hand, is one: the new channel receives the catalog's, and a sale on any channel lowers it on all of them. How it is split across channels is chosen in Organization → «Inventory». An independent channel keeps its own stock.
  • A rejected listing is retried, once the cause is fixed, with «Try again» on its page or by going back to «Publish the N». In Home → «Quick actions», «Retry what failed» does both: it resends what the catalog says to what is already on sale and publishes again what the channel did not let you create.
  • If the description comes from WooCommerce with WPBakery, Divi or another page builder's codes, the other channels receive it translated, with the text, headings, links and images. Tiendanube and Shopify keep the columns; Mercado Libre receives it as text, with headings in capitals. WooCommerce keeps receiving it as is. To clean what was published before, use «Resend content to the other channels», in the notice on the product page.
