04Channels & organization

Organizations

Create one, switch the active one, rename or delete it, and what to do with a channel in another currency.

An organization is a separate market: its catalog, its channels, its people and a single currency. When you sign up you already have one, the personal one, and from Professional on you can have more. Another one makes sense if you sell in another currency or run another business with another team. You always work inside one: the active one.

  1. Your organizations

Your user menu → “Organization”. Above the tabs is “My organizations”, one row for each with your role in it. “Active” marks the one you're in and “Personal”, the one created with your account.

Mock-up: “My organizations” with the active one, the personal one and each row's actions
  2. Switching the active one

“Use” on another one's row, or the selector at the top of the side menu, “Your organizations”. The app reloads and from then on catalog, channels, team and plan are that organization's.

  3. Creating one

“Create organization”, a name and “Create”. It starts empty and you're its owner. Created from this list it doesn't switch you to it; from the side menu selector, it does. If your plan doesn't allow more, the notice says your limit, which also counts the personal one.

  4. Renaming

The row's pencil, if you're owner or admin of that organization. The new name shows everywhere straight away. The personal one can be renamed too.

  5. Deleting

Only the owner sees the bin, and never on the personal one. With connected channels, paused ones included, it can't be deleted: disconnect them first. To confirm you type its name. When you delete it, its members lose access and its channels lose their keys and connections: Koalab no longer writes to them. The catalog and the history stop being available to everyone. It can't be undone. If it was the active one, you move to your personal one.

  6. Another currency: independent catalog or another organization

The shared catalog publishes in the organization's currency, the one in “Market”. If a channel states another, Koalab doesn't put it in that catalog and offers you two ways out: connect it as independent, with its own products, prices and stock, or take it to an organization that works in its currency.

Details worth knowing

  • A new organization's currency is chosen on the welcome screen, with your country's proposed. Afterwards it's changed in “Market”, unless your shared-catalog channels already state another.
  • Ownership is transferred from “Team”, with “Make owner”: only the owner, only to an active member and only if the organization fits in that person's plan. To leave one that isn't yours there's “Leave organization”.
  • The organizations you create are covered by your plan: you pay once. The organization cap is yours and counts all those you own, the personal one included. The other caps —channels, products, people and syncs— belong to each organization.
  • When ownership is transferred, you get an email and so does the person receiving it, and from then on billing notices go to that person. When an organization is deleted, each member it had gets an email saying so.
